This is the first of a series of new development slated for McLean. There are a number of projects or communities on various stages of construction. I will cover the rest after my visit to these new communities sometime this month.
Stockwell Manor is a new community of 29 luxury single family homes and 79 townhomes. The last time I checked, they finished clearing the 23 acre of land that will be the site of the new community and in the process of constructing the first home that I think it will have been designated as their model home.
The builder's approach is to give you a refreshing take on urban living in McLean neighborhood. McLean, is quite unique because it is in the middle of a cross section between urban and suburban living. Though, it's a different kind of urban living here, not like Arlington or Alexandria, where you find compact density in almost every corner of the neighborhoods. Because the builder wants to create a community that gives a sense of urban living, they selected their site which is off Great Falls Street in McLean borders with Falls Church. It provides easy access to all of Northern Virginia and the District -- access made even made it easier with West Falls Church Metro stop that is less than a mile away from here.
Customization is the "buzz" word here. In this community is you customize your home. What that means -- you will have the opportunity to become an integral part of the design and construction team that creates your home. It is truly up to you what kind of level of personal involvement you want. You can pre-select what level of personal involvement you like based on your needs and wants. So, if your "thing" is to create state-of-the art media room, then you want to schedule the time to address critical aspects such as lighting, wiring and sound. Conversely, if your interest in landscaping is minimal, then you only need one session to talk with your landscape designer.
From builder's brochure.
"...You should know your Stockwell Manor home will have superior amenities, from commercial grade appliances in the kitchen, to finely grained hardwood flooring, to baths with superbly crafted tiling."
I think you get the idea about the kind of homebuying experience they offer, and what they promise to deliver. The kind of homebuying experience that that will help set the tone for your expectations.
