Apparently the number of Marylanders and businesses took advantage of the solar grants was quiet substantial and there's not enough funds to support it. State has less money to fund the program. Future funding would come from proceed of its cap-and-trade RGGI auctions.

The Maryland Energy Administration ran out of money for the subsidy program in July and last month capped at 412 the waiting list of homeowners and businesses hoping to get as much as $10,000 to install a new solar electric system.
And Maryland is hardly the only state faced with funding challenges...
